About

Taras Tabaka was born in the Ukraine in 1965, in Uzhorod, a town within the Zakrarpatian region. Following graduation at University, he studied painting formally, and was tutored by the Nationally renowned Ukrainian artist Z. S. Bakoni from the age of just five. His dreams were realized both nationally and internationally, in 1986, with exhibitions across Europe, America and Canada, where many of his works are kept today, within private collections, and corporate organizations alike. He’s now a ‘Fellow’ of the Association of  Ukranian Artists.

Within his philosophical view of the world, he’s concerned with the symbiosis and harmony of the human and natural worlds, clearly evident within his literary and artistic endeavours. Close too, are the theories surrounding  ‘fundamental existentialism’,  and this as well, is often found within his work.

He associates real atmosphere, found within all walks of life, with dramatic components, which allude to reality, and whilst rarely bright or optimistic, his paintings reflect patience, kindness and inner flexibility, rather than just being a coloured patch to hang upon a wall. He hopes that those who gaze upon them will draw some emotional resource, even become familiar friends and treasured possessions. At the present time, he works between both the USA and The Ukraine, and has done since 1996.

His studios are located in Uzhgorod, Ukraine; Budapest, Hungary; Essen, Germany and Long Island, New York. He dedicated his life to art. Outside of art he leads a closed way of living. Existentialist that follows the lead of gestalt.

Artist Statement

«You don’t intrude into an illusion; you are a part of it ...»

-John Fowles-

The world around us is what we think of it. Yes, it is woven from the quotations, and it is difficult for us to identify the most important images among its endless variety of repetitive pictures. Those that allow us to live in harmony and take it as it is...

Alas, life experience is limited in time, and harmony makes no provision for expectations. The path to it is not easy, but it is beautiful.

Our era is the current reality, devoid of guarantees of constancy. But where there's a will there’s a possibility to find so much scope for soul and mind, as there was not in the most enlightened times. The main thing is to be sincere and honest with yourself.

I'm a stalker and a conductor, an artist, who interprets Art not as a form but as a meaning of life. An idealist with a wanderer stick and a samurai code of honor. I came into this world to do my job.

Everything that I may paint surrounds us, in fact, and everyone comes into contact with it anyway. I'm just eager to rethink these fragments, give them meaning, power and infinite love of life.
