"As a former teacher, I believe that we have a unique opportunity to build strong self confidence in young/teen children by creating wonderful experiences when they are still young. My contribution is to orchestrate special art days at the galleries or other locations. We want parents and grandparents to attend with the children for a shared experience, not to judge, but to appreciate the art created by their loved young one. We provide all the art supplies. We provide the wonderful location. We have artists who come to assist. All free. When the young ones leave with their beautiful artwork, they get supplies to take home with them. All free. Why We Do It
All children are artists and we believe in supporting the younger generations by allowing them the means to express themselves in a safe and encouraging environment. We seek to provide a space where parents and their children can bond together and share a love for art! We only have so many years and so let's use this time to encourage the younger generation.
What to Expect
The BEST DAY EVER! On the morning of Saturday, March 9th, the team at Mary Martin Gallery will open their doors to children of all ages to come paint, sculpt, and craft with the gallery staff and professional artists. All supplies are free and the children are encouraged to take their artworks home with them! Adult supervision is required.
Event Details
Children's Art Day is Saturday, March 9th, from 10 am to 4 pm at Mary Martin Gallery, 103 Broad St., Charleston SC. Feel free to arrive anytime between that timeframe. Please RSVP to Stevie with the number of children you're bringing so we can order enough supplies, stevie@marymartinart.com. RSVP is preferred, but not required. ALL are welcome!
