Artist Ricardo Ramirez and wife Emily, together known as Octopus Ink, have been working as a duo for the past four years. They love creating vibrant, eye-catching murals and paintings that showcase their contemporary style.
Ricardo who has been painting and drawing his whole life, finds inspiration from bright and colorful street art and pop art. Artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Warhol, Banksy, and Shepard Ferry helped shape and develop Ricardo's painting style. Ricardo uses thick lines and bold highlights to make the subject come to life. He enjoys taking chances with color schemes and even the subject itself.
Ricardo and Emily come up with the subject together, Ricardo designs and arranges the composition, and Emily helps chose colors and helps with the logistics of painting large scale murals.
Most of their work began while living in New York State, walking from business to business offering to paint murals. Steadily they grew, developed their reputation and found their style they are now known for. Recently relocated to the South to help care for family, they continue doing what they love: Sharing unique and colorful art with the world, wherever anyone has a wall to spare.
